Early Influences
My main rock/blues guitar inspirations in the beginning were Jimmy Page, Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan and David Gilmour. Along side these rock guys I was also inspired by r&b, funk, soul, motown and disco. Players like Nile Rodgers from Chic and Jimmy Nolen from James Browns' band really made an impact on me with their soulful funky playing.
Later Influences
After playing guitar for a couple of years I decided it was time to get serious and enrolled in a Jazz Music program at Mohawk College in Hamilton Ontario Canada. Here I learned a lot, got to play in a big band and jazz fusion ensembles. It was a great time for soaking up new influences and learning about music. Influences from this time period were Jim Hall, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Miles Davis, George Benson, Charlie Parker and many jazz fusion artists. I spent 2 years full time in this program and then started touring across Canada and America. Many years later while living in London England, I took an exam at the London College of Music (Thames Valley University) and was awarded a Diploma in Performance DipLCM.
